Recall when the problem started
Knowing when the door stopped closing can help you choose where to begin. If it happened after loading large containers following a shopping trip, check their positions first. If it began immediately after cleaning the interior, inspect shelves and drawers that you removed and reinstalled.
This helps set the checking order; it does not prove that the most recent change caused the problem. If repositioning a container leaves a gap, continue to inspect the seal and door. A door briefly staying closed after a hard push does not establish that the problem is resolved.
Check containers, shelves, and drawers together
Close the door slowly and observe what makes contact first. Move any container projecting beyond the front edge of a shelf farther inside. Check whether an open container lid, as well as the container itself, touches a door storage bin.
Make sure drawers are fully pushed in and shelves are correctly fitted in their original positions. They may look tidy from the front but sit differently after cleaning and interfere with parts of the door. Samsung’s door-closing guidance (Korean) lists food, drawers, and shelves as initial items to check for obstructions.
Change one thing at a time where possible: reposition a potentially obstructing container, check the door, then inspect the drawers and shelves. This makes it easier to see which change helped. Do not repeatedly push the door when heavy items could fall out.
Distinguish dirt on the seal from damage
Food or debris on the rubber seal around the door can prevent it from making good contact. Wipe visible dirt away with a clean cloth, then check how the door meets the cabinet. If one section appears lifted, also look at how the seal is seated.
Cleaning dirt off a seal and repairing a deformed part are different tasks. If you see a tear or a change in shape, request a service inspection rather than trying to repair it with adhesive or heat. Reducing a visible gap does not, by itself, prove that the seal is working properly again.

Keep hinge and installation work within the manual’s limits
If nothing inside is obstructing the door, a hinge problem or deformation of the door may be involved. Installation tilt can also affect closure, but there is no single leg height or tilt measurement that applies to every refrigerator.
Raising the front excessively on the assumption that it will always solve the problem can make the door harder to open. Check your model’s manual for whether adjustment is allowed and how it is performed. Do not try to solve the issue by tilting or moving a heavy refrigerator on your own. Ask service support about installation problems you cannot assess from the manual.
Loosening hinges to realign the door or heating the seal with a hair dryer is outside the scope of these household checks. If the problem remains after checking accessible obstructions and dirt, requesting an inspection is a reasonable next step.
Record the gap and cooling behavior before contacting support
Note the model number, when the symptom began, and whether you recently cleaned the refrigerator or changed the arrangement inside. Photograph which door and which edge have a gap. Explain what you checked around the containers, drawers, and seal.
A slightly open door can admit outside air and make cooling seem weaker. However, do not attribute every cooling problem to the door. If the refrigerator still seems unable to maintain its temperature after the door closes, request an appliance inspection. A closed door also does not establish that food already stored inside is in a safe condition.
